Heating And Cooling Process for Extruders

An arrangement for heating and cooling an extrusion barrel(1) of a plastics processing machine or similar cylinders includes buffer elements(2) with high heat conductivity mounted around the barrel and enclosed in a jacket through which cool air flows. Heater elements, especially heater bands(3), are located on the buffer elements(2) in selected areas and cooling members(4) are located in other areas or are integral with the buffer elements.
